Utility Schemes – Northern Powergrid & Yorkshire Water
Across the region, there are currently numerous schemes being undertaken by Northern Powergrid and Yorkshire Water. These projects can often impact landowners and occupiers, but please be assured that Lister Haigh is here to assist with any matters relating to them. Budget Reflections
Farmers have been let down yet again by the latest Budget, which offers little to ease the growing pressures on the agricultural sector. Labour’s family farm tax, introduced last year, continues to weigh heavily on landowners and has removed stability for future planning. The only change announced is to the £1 million allowance for Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief, which can now be transferred to spouses, including widows. While this adjustment provides some flexibility with succession planning, it falls far short of addressing the damage already inflicted on family farms.
Residential Lettings
We have a number of clients with estate-owned or separately held residential property and we act as letting and management agents on their behalf. With the Renters’ Rights Act coming into effect in May, there are significant changes on the horizon and our professional and experienced team will be delighted to advise.
